I am the girl who talks too much, laughs too loud and loves to write. As the Sydney-based writer of this blog, I get to prattle on about the many things I have learned during my 20-year career.

I am a journalist, freelance writer and editor. I am also passionate about books, and facilitate author 'in conversation' interviews. I also present a feature writing course at the Sydney Writers' Centre.

As a freelance writer, my articles regularly appear in Medical Observer, on ABC Health & Wellbeing, and in Prevention Magazine, Reader's Digest and Health Smart. I have also contributed to other publications including Men's Health, Good Health and Medicine and Ninemsn Health online.

I mainly dabble in medical-political, health and family issues these days, but still enjoy writing about a diverse range of topics including travel, books, lifestyle and men's and women's issues.

I am also one of the presenters of the Feature Writing for Magazines and Newspapers course at the Sydney Writers' Centre. I don't mind getting up in front of an audience, and have appeared at author events and literary festivals as a facilitator.

Throughout my career, I have been a staff reporter for the Gold Coast Bulletin, Australian Associated Press and The Daily Telegraph. I have also held various positions including section editor, chief sub-editor, chief-of-staff and news and features writer.

But, I confess, journalism is not my only passion. A keen traveller, I have also spent time exploring the US, Europe and South-East Asia. I have lived in Canada, the UK and New Zealand. But it is the travel I undertake throughout Australia that I enjoy the most. In 2008, my husband and two young boys set off around Australia on a three-month, 16,000km road trip through five Australian states and territories.

When I am not travelling, I bum around with the family, exercise outdoors, read and write for pleasure and practice (woefully) the guitar. Always eager to improve my personal and professional development, I am also an eager member of Toastmasters.
